Ski size

I'm buying a new pair of skis next season, but I don't know which size ski to buy.

My options are the Atomic theory in 168 or 177.

Salomon rocker 2 90 in 169 or 177.

Salomon rocker 2 92 in 171 or even 179.

I can read sizing charts over and over again, but experience is what counts.

I'm 6'0 and 150 pounds, so which size ski would you recommend?

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am an advanced skier.

With rocker/early rise you can go longer. I'm ~5'6.5" 140lbs and went with the 168/early rise because i have demo'ed/rented it and am comfortable on it and the next size up in my ski is a 178, a size more appropriate for you, exception being for a very stiff ski/traditional camber, imo.

I'm almost 6'02" and I just went with 170cm.  I thought they would be too short but no way.  I'm havin' a great time with them.

Try shorter (even if you're a good skier), and see how much fun it is.....

This is exactly the issue that I'm facing. One person says go with the longer ski and another says go with a shorter ski. Bearing in mind that I'm 17 and still growing, I think I'm leaning towards the longer ski, but I guess I'm going to demo both sizes.

go longer

I'm 48, 6', 170lbs and am skiing 176's (FIS GS skis)  Ideally I should be skiing longer but for me not enough slope time, age rolleyes.gif the 176's are are the perfect match.  If I was your age I'd be on the longest boards I could get my hands on.

If you're gonna ski, ski hard.

BTW I was skiiing on 205's for the longest time.

Each in the longer of the two lengths you listed.

Especially with a rocker,  be careful of too short or you lose edge when you need it.  I'm 5'2" and I ski a 163" in my rocker ski.  My son is 15, 6' and 150 lbs.  His carver is a 170 and I just bought him a rockered ski in 180'.  I agree with tsk94, go longer.

I'm 6', 200, and enjoy skiing on a short ski about once a year. I even skied some 145s last year, they were fun, entertaining, but pretty pointless. I used to ski 170's as my daily driver, sure they work good for hard pack, but they were really a pain in soft snow. I find long skis to be much more versatile and useful, my powder/park skis are 186 (no rocker, almost center mount, ski short) and my groomer sticks are 193 gs skis. I've had way more fun on the gs skis than any other ski could give me on hard pack.

The way it looks to me he is buying an all mountain mid fat ski. With a ski like that I have to say go longer.

This. With rockered skis aimed at softer snow, no point in being much under 180, unless you're a jockey. My wife skis powder in 178's.
