New beginner lifts at Squaw

Squaw released their new beginner area lift reconfiguration (click the image to expand):

Looks quite logical and it will take a lot of pressure from the Gold Coast line and from the traverse to Shirley.  The interesting question will be which way will be the faster route to Granite- Taking Gold Coast and traversing to Shirley1, or skiing down to the new BigBlue lift and riding it to Shirley5.

Why is it called Big Blue?

Isn't the fastest way to Granite up Emigrant and out the back side?

That's true if Emigrant is running....  And if Emigrant is running for a first run on a powder day, I am probably taking the Funnel down to the Shirley Bowl.

Probably because of the great view of the lake that your back is enjoying  while you are riding that lift:-)

squaw express (or whatever they call it) when it's running, to big blue. I hate the funi. Wonder exactly where the base of new links will be--always fun trying to carry speed down from Shirley Ridge to go past the beginners at the cluster of lifts below high camp to get to the hanging gardens and Tower 16.
