Caught an excellent deal during the offf season on the Fischer Motive 84 C-Line and the Fischer Motive 88, bought them for East Coast Skiing and your 2 trips out west, skiied on the Motive 80 C-Line this past season, great ski, just wanted a little more ski for the crud, and occasional powder, would like to have that one ski quiver, any thoughts?
FISCHER MOTIVE 84 C-LINE VS FISCHER MOTIVE 88
Just posted my followup to the 80/84 review thread -- basically, really liked the 84, just a bit much for me at my weight, am going to make the switch to the 80 C-Line. Hopefully the 84s should work out as a great all-rounder for you (felt they'd have been perfect if I weighed more). Am hoping the 80s will be the ones to do the same for me.
Just got my 80 C-Lines mounted, had a nit-picky (Aspie? :P) question for daybreak and/or SteveS.. The ivory colored sidewalls on my (just sold) 84 C-Lines are perfectly polished and smooth to the touch. On these 80s, the texture of the sidewall is not smooth, but seems marred almost, has sort of small uneven vertical ridges all the way along their lengths, almost like mini-scallops along the edge.
Probably just the manufacturing changed slightly somehow (since it's like that all the way along the lengths of each side), but the manufacturing details of the ski are so clearly identical in every other respect, I can't help wondering if the plastic on the sidewalls was degraded somehow for whatever reason, or if it could be some kind of manufacturing defect.. anyway, curious to know if the same is true for your skis (daybreak in particular, since you've also got both skis, whether you see/feel a similar difference on the sidewalls between the two).
