Deer Valley Gondola Connecting to Main Street?

Well, the idea has been proposed and it could become a reality in a couple of years benefiting both Deer Valley and Park City businesses catering to the tourists.  Here is the Park Record article:  http://www.parkrecord.com/ci_21230970/main-street-wants-deer-valleys-slopes-shops-gondola?IADID=Search-www.parkrecord.com-www.parkrecord.com

Seems like most people are in favor of it happening too, which is always a benefit in these types of things.

Now they just would need to put a rope tow between PCMR's lift on the lower end of main street and the gondola for Deer Valley. Snowboarder free of course. duck.gif

My guess is seven resorts eventually interconnect, and tourists will be able to find their way to Main Street in Park City regardless of where they start skiing.    This proposed gondola doesn't have the environmentalists up in arms, at least not yet. Does that make some of them hypocritical?  If they build it I'll miss watching all those enormous rental SUVs attempting to parallel park.

We like the idea. Most PC'ers I talk to like the Canyons- Solitude gondola too. Now if we can only connect Canyons to PCMR, DV to PCMR, PCMR to Brighton, Brighton to Alta...etc. Put in a couple yurts serving wine and lattes...

At first glance, I think it makes a lot of sense - both for Park City as well as Deer Valley.

It would be a great benefit for Park City in terms of increased Main Street business while reducing automobile traffic, parking, etc.  Conversely, it could encourage those staying in Park City to spend a day at Deer Valley without having to take the shuttle or get in their car.  It would also likely bring more business from those staying at Deer Valley down to the restaurants & night clubs along Main Street.

I could see families who are lodging at Deer Valley skiing together at Deer Valley in the morning, then taking the gondola down to Main Street for lunch.  Then after lunch, part of the group heads back up to the slopes (either PC or DV) while the rest stays on Main Street for some casual afternoon shopping & sightseeing.

Main street to Silverlake makes a lot of sense. I like the idea.

Great idea for both areas.

Now how do they get The Canyons to come join the party?

Not living up to your ignorant assumptions is hypocrisy now?

I think the Main Street- sliver lake connection would be great. Would make getting up to sliver lake easier, not having to wait for the bus or drive and park up there. Hopefully it would also help early mourning lines at snow park and make it less crowed coming back to snow park at the end of the day.

I am very excited for it, and hope they build it soon!
