Yeah I'm sorry about that. It was designed for general contests and I'm sure being that far into all the legalize my eyes glazed over a bit. I edited it so that it only gives EpicSki the right to republish the image (so that I can do things like post a winners announcement, share it on our homepage, etc.). Even that we've always had a de facto policy of respecting the winner, one of our users has requested we don't share their images on our Facebook page and I've always respected that even if we theoretically have the right to do it.

Well that's good. The problem becomes when we have someone who takes over who doesn't care what's been done only what they can get away with. Then does one thing whiile saying another. We say it can't happen, then elect someone like that in this country...

Okay.  I've tried subtlety but it hasn't taken.  This is Picture of the Day.  It doesn't have anything to do with the other thread.  Take the conversation somewhere else.

Please.

I don't disagree with you at all. However that is universal with using a web service to share content you create. Unless you are the one directly paying the hosting bills, pretty much any site is going to require you relinquish certain rights.

@Vcize I have been there, these pictures don't qualify for the contest though because it was taken in February 2011 (and by my dad not me), but it is a cool spot:

I wish we would have some more snow, but with current winters, I need to be happy with whatever we have. But it wasn't all that bad skiing afterall during last few days :)

Looking down my line from top of Sunday's climb. Some 800 height meters of relatively ok skiing, and then 5km skinning back on almost flat terrain to car :)

Guys on the opposite hill on early Saturday morning, for nice start of long day on skis (almost 6h, about 4000 height meters of climb and some 600m more of descent)

After 6h of up and down one more climb and some nice steep skiing back to car. We went pretty much through everything from 50cm fresh powder to icy steep faces where wind blow away all the fresh snow from previous night.

Baltimore's Inner Harbor at Sunset last week; took while killing time before an early morning flight out of BWI.

Hope Valley (between South Lake Tahoe and Kirkwood) earlier this week. If you can't make it out the snow stake is at a solid 6'! That's untracked, naturally consolidated snow in a flat, open field area.

BTW, earlier this week there was a Highway Patrol sitting at the intersection of Hiway 88 and 89, looking back up toward Luther Pass and picking cars off coming down the long hill with his speed gun. If you're driving that way keep it down - they'll nail you before you ever even see em.

4,000 meters vertical of climb?? I'm not sure even starting in town of Chamonix to top of Mt Blanc is that much. The lift gets you 2,800 meters vertical height from town.

Do you mean 4km of trail?

4000 meters of ascend in total. That means few times going up to different mountains. :) In single climb it was anything from 400 to 1000 height meters in one piece. Our highest mountain here in Slovenia is 2864m so 4k in single climb would be quite an achievement :D

Aha.
Is Slovenia worth people traveling to for skiing?

For ski touring/off-piste skiing when you do your climbing and don't depend on lifts, absolutely, even though it's not Alaska, but I guess nothing except Alaska is Alaska :) For on piste alpine skiing, honestly... I don't think so. Personally I would stay over the northern border in Austria, or some 200km away in Dolomites, but that's pretty much exactly what I do :) Even though I have biggest Slovenian ski resort just 10km away, and another one 15km away, I always drive to Austria when going on piste skiing. It's just 1h drive, but still.

Whitewater reported 10cm (4 inches) overnight.

Whitewater has been known to under report.

But no, East Wall is phat. Right kind of snow, right amounts and timing, right wind.

Tasty.
