Beautiful photos. Just love Yachats. Only got there once for a week, but it is a special place. Will never forget the amazing starfish and urchins in the tide-pools.
Nobody knows for sure but it's happening all up and down the Pacific coast. There are almost NO starfish anywhere in the waters around here anymore. I just Googled it and the best guess now is it has something to do with warming waters, but nobody knows yet.
Mmm-mm. 1 & 2 especially have it all together: lively bleak & pow! Some seeing, cm.
thanks carve. I'm not really happy with the 2nd admittedly. The RAW file actually has a lot more light on the rocks and the lake floor. I wanted the light to be more fleeting. The new moon is Oct 23rd and I'd like to go hit the overly-photographed bonsai rock that night. I don't have any shots of it but I think some really faint light painting and a whole lotta stars could make for a good shot. It's also such a clean formation that it will lend itself to a better composition. It was so pitch black during that photo it was hard to frame the comp.
took this last night out my front window, poor photo quality but a front was over buff' pass as the sun was setting, it lasted about 5 minutes
scoping lines behind my house for some meadow skipping in a couple months... this field was ends about 300 yards from my back door.
