Noob Binding Advice

I've been skiing for about 10 yrs and buying upgraded skis for the first time.

I just bough Salomon 2012s and I'm looking for bindings. I'm probably a low level Advanced skier, and I want to become an expert on the bumps.

My skis are 91mm wide, and I've read that any bindings/brakes that are greater than 15mm wider than the ski width are not advised.

With that said would there be a huge difference between a 100mm or 110mm brake width? There's better deals on the oversized bindings. I'm looking to get Salomon STH Drivers but its been tough to find one's with a max din size of 14 and a 100mm width. I'm about 190lbs and 5'11". Although I may never need the extra DIN, most bindings only go to 12 and  I'd just like to have the extra in case my skills really increase over the next 5 years. Am I asking for too much, should I be happy with max DIN 12?

By comparison, my beginner skis were 63mm width with a 5.5 DIN setting, 170mm. Also, they were 100mm brake width.

Thanks!

Go to 14.

Trade someone for the brakes.

The Sth12 and 14 are the same binding in housing, the only difference is a bit in cosmetics. Salomon does make 90/100/110mm brakes, most shops will swap for the ones you need. Sth12 Drivers are a fine way to go.

So even if I buy bindings that say 110mm brakes, I can swap in smaller brakes. Didn't know that was possible. I thought the bindings had to be made a certain way to fit brakes that size.

Yep. Worse case, if you cover shipping, I have brakes here I can swap you.

Thanks bro, I might just take you up on that offer if my ski shop doesn't have any.
