Help a Noob with selecting skis size for next season please and thank you!

Hey yall. I just starting skiing last season. I purchased a pair of Volkl Ledges 162 to get started. I am 5'7-5'8 and weigh in about 212-220 usually..depending on how lazy I am at the gym. I am looking for a new ski for next winter as I found the Ledges decent on groomers, fun in the park (when I was not faceplanting all over the place). I ski just a local small hill and am going to be hitting up Big Sky, Moonlight and probably Sunshine this winter. I do not know what to buy....a majority of my friends say to stay in the 162-170 range due to the fact that I am pretty much a beginner...I dont really have any issues besides faceplanting over jumps. I tend to stay on the groomers and would like to venture into a bit of powder eventually, the park not so much. Basically I am looking for something fun and all-mountain which will last me a few seasons. I have narrowed it down to the following

:

K2 Recoil..either 164 or 169....unsure of which to go with

Volkl Bridge at 163 - found some really good deals right now

K2 Sight at 169

Salomon 20-12 at 163

Prophet flite or 90 or 98 at 165

These are the 5 I am trying to decide on. Due to the fact I am in the middle of nowhere it is almost impossible to get to a store and find the perfect ski.....so I kind of have to wing it while the prices are good.

Thank you in advance for helping out a noob! your experience and comments will be invaluable to me!

At 210-220 you will over power any of those skis in a sub 170cm length. While you are still new to the sport, I am guessing that you will want to be improving therefore will need a ski more in the 175+/- length range. Anything shorter will hinder your progression. Most of what you listed are twin tips, why? Since you said the majority of your skiing is on groomers, why not open your search to include all mountain skis?

Thanks for the advice! You are right, I should be looking for something between 170-180 if I dont want to be upgrading again next season. I guess I listed twin-tips as it is what I started riding on and I am a tad more familiar with them then non twins.
