I am going to get the Smith Variant Brim helmet. In terms of fashion, which color would be best to get. I have a dark blue jacket, black snow pants, and white/blue goggles. I don't want to spend money for something that doesn't match. I am a guy, by the way, so I don't have much of a fashion sense. I am sort of leaning towards white, but maybe black, red, graphite, blue, or black/white. I don't know. Thanks!

I think you should get one in every color so you don't have to worry about matching the color of your jacket and goggles.  Most ski professionals try to match the color of their helmet with the color of their boots, unless they have rose tinted lenses in their goggles which will obviously clash with a red helmet.

You are genetically excused by the Fashion Police.

Your welcome

Red is faster.

sardine blue. is sooo much better than red and it will make you a better skier.

theres a great thread going on right now on www.tgr.com on the best color ski socks now but   Go post up in the tech talk section they will give you better advice than we can here.

White.  I hear sometimes skiers wearing black helmets get pulled over by ski patrol for no reason at all.

I think you should keep wearing your old helmet, use the singles ski line, and ask every women you ride the chair up with to advise you!  It's a great way to meet women.

The problem is you are looking at the wrong Smith Helmet, the Vantage is the cool one. The new lime green is killah...and the must color for 2013.

You know what would be cool? A clear one, right? I wonder why they don't make clear helmets.

I'm interested - that might also solve the problem of satellites and aliens reading my mind.  Can we get a work-up on that?  Anyone know anyone at Smith?

Okay, that is a pretty frikkin cool helmet.  Who wouldn't want one?  Though I'm not sure I saw a place for the GoPro mount.  But more importantly, I need that machine!  I've got some projects in mind...

still no sardine mounting plate?

I like the idea of the clear helmet but then the whole subject of what's the best hair style to wear under your helmet comes to mind....

For 2014 Smith has a new helmet coming with changeable shell color.  Small switch on the inside, three colors per helmet, allows the user to coordinate on a daily basis.  Helmet will need to be charged on a nightly basis.

I had a Leedom that was clear - I thought it looked very cool - still see one occasionally.

Bumpfreaq- is that the one you had at Steamboat? If so, the pictures don't do it justice.

That's the one he's had since before JH.

That finish kind of reminds me of a bowling ball... in a good way.

Who's tryin'a go straight?

The helmet in the pic has been retired due to impact.  I got another Variant Brim and painted it in the same colors.

I am proud to say I skied next to that helmet

I'm trying to find that picture that could have been the "impact".

That's one of the things I love about you.  You're not afraid to appear foolish on the interwebsicon14.gif

I don't know about lime green for the smith vantage, but what's the difference between gunmetal and matte black. Which one is better?

Yer gonna hafta trust us on this.    Lime green rules.

It makes all those other helmets turn pale with envy.   Paler than the underbelly of a young sardine.

What's the problem with lime green helmets? Sadly I didn't have the matching lime a frame Oakley's on that day, but certainly did make a fashion statement that should make any young 'un proud.

Hey - back off, it was gaper day at Whistler, otherwise I'd NEVER wear anything this ugly. Well, almost never ........
