Headed to The Colordo mountains for a week via Denver.  Is the Saturday morning traffic on I-70 as bad in the summer as it is during ski season?  Thanks.

As a general rule, no.  Not even close.

But Sunday afternoon traffic can be even worse, so beware.

I can personally attest to that. 5.5 hours last trip from Steamboat to DIA. we made it from the boat to 70 in 1.5 hours.  you can do the math. it should be another 1.5 hours from there to DIA

My son did a cross country bike ride a few years ago and was easily passing the cars on 70 on Sunday July 5.

There are traffic delays year round on I70.

It's usually not as bad in summer despite a higher volumes of cars, but it's still frustrating to deal with.
