Late April skiing at White Pass Ski Area, WA

Snow was 5+ inches of day-old Cascade cement with a double helping of spring pollen   2011 Volkl Mantras being chased by Volkl Attiva Estrellas You don't see many other skiers because of the snow quality most left on the mountain were in the lodges drinking beer by 10 a.m, and gone by noon; after noon, the groomed was unskiable.

Yes that is the new extension of the ski area; they added a whole section of off-piste skiing at the top (labeled black diamond and double black) grading from pretty open with moderate slopes to very treed with some steep slopes and small cliffs.  Of course nothing looks steep in the movie :-)  And that was some of the worst spring gunk I've skied, but not so bad first thing in the morning above tree line compared to mid-day below tree line.
