Paradise Glacier, Mt. Rainier, WA--4th trip of the month

My wife skis the glacier on AT gear I bought her as she enters her 70th year--Dynafit Women's TLT5 boots, 161 cm Manaslu skis, Vertical ST bindings, and 7-summits carbon-titanal poles; it was her 4th day on AT after decades on telemark gear.  More people on the glacier this day because it was the weekend and some had seen my previous video on turns-all-year.com.

I saw another TR from you and am amazed at how good the snow still is there.  Glad you're getting after it.

Did you say her 70th year?! Fantastic!

Going on 70, she was not the oldest on the glacier that day; the leader of the group coming up on skier's left is 76 and the last in line is a 72-year-old woman veteran of the 1st woman's ascent of AnnaPurna.  There are quite a significant number of active older people in PNW.  My neighbor down the street is the oldest woman to climb Mt. Rainier (when she was 78, I believe, up and down in 19 hours); we had a friend who was doing real bc skiing into her 80s (but arthritis and joint problems have relegated her to XC skiing now).
