Skiing the Paradise Glacier in Mt. Rainier National Park yesterday with 184 cm Volkl Snowwolfs (76 mm waist), Dynafit TLT5 Mountain Boots (2 buckles, but without the tongues), Dynafit Vertical ST bindings, and Black Diamond Whippet self-arrest poles.

Cool, thanks for posting!

I wish I had video of skiing Ranier & Paradise glacier in the 80's.  I was on 205cm Atomic OT's (I would guess about 55mm waist) Chouinard tele bindings & leather Asolo extreme boots.  I do have a few photos somewhere, I will have to do a search.

It was still super fun, if not extra exciting as a storm rolled in!

Thanks,

JF

I started skiing MNRP in 1989 on 210 cm Karhu XCD GTs, 3-pin bindings, and Asolo Snowfield boots--a disaster.  Finally achieved some nirvana with Tua Excalibur series 70-mm waist skis (Excalibur, Excalibur Plus, and Excalibur Mitos) and Scarpa t-3 plastic boots;  finally settled on the Volkl Snowwolf, 3-pins, and Scarpa T-2s; then switched to AT, but kept the Snowwolfs (but added tech bindings) for summer skiing.

Yeah, I was never a great tele skier but man that was a simple, light set-up.  I could have fun on most anything, as long as the snow was consistent.
