EpicSki Stickers -- design help needed! - Page 8

IMO in order to get the connection to the beer commercial you either need to have the pic of the actual guy in the commercial or you need the exact quote (with "beer switched out to "visit ski forums"). Otherwise all you got is some old guy recommending a ski forum.

Wow, I like the beardless Weems better.  While the old guy in the poster is funny, and owns our reputation as a more mature forum, the sticker loses context with both the Dos Equis and old-guy gag, and I don't get it. th_dunno-1[1].gif

This guy, I get...

A fun thread. Here are my suggestions for what might be placed under Epic Ski on a sticker.

"Skiing is a Crutch"

I think I've missed something.

I thought the idea was to have a simple helmet sticker that is just a round or oval die cut, just the image no logo, and then one that is larger, rectangle that has the slogan.

I was thinking the same and then do a poster and or hoody/T with the picture.

That just me playing around with it and throwing out ideas -- too hot to do anything outside.

I do believe that nolo is doing a basic, plain sticker.

Please, no cold water allowed on the creative process!

We'll definitely have the plain vanilla versions, die-cut if not too exorbitant, but I've got Weems on board and he's sending some great photos for Pete to play with --

How 'bout this one of my favorite "smartest dog in the world"?

No cold water intended.  I just wondered where I got lost.  I get lost frequently.

And  I LOVE the dog!

Maybe we could do something with a ski pole or a pair of skis in Weem's dog's mouth (instead of a stick) and say something along the lines of "Let's Ski!"

if the sheep aren't kept in the meadow they will get lost in the mountains......  IOW- a little nips at the heels keeps the creative efforts on the right path...  This is fun.  I love this stuff.

Just a rough t-shirt concept (Let's go skiing! is probably a little unimaginative, but something along those lines).

Another thumbs up for that design.  It would make a great bumper sticker as well.

Nice work, Pete! (I neglected to mention Merlin as the model and he got a little snippy about it. Rightfully so. redface.gif)

While I know that some people are enamored of dogs, and some people associate epicski and Weems, and that his dog is especially endearing to those who harbor both sentiments, my first impression of the above image, which was seen out of context was: "What the hell does that dog have to do with skiing?" I then scrolled up through the posts to find the connection.

I'm sure the dog lovers would also love that sticker, and friends of Weems who know that it's his dog, but for someone whose interest in epicski is skiing, and not in dogs, it would be just a cutesy non sequitur, and they wouldn't be interested in it.

IMHO that image with the dog, even if it weren't Weems' dog, is closer to the image of EpicSki than most of the other stuff, unless we want to get back to the OP and the "site for dedicated skiers" which has been the logo for the site since AC.

What it really comes down to is that EpicSki is a community of people who have a passion for skiing, from diverse walks of life.  Perhaps less is more.

You're a dog lover obviously. Only people who have a pronounced affinity for dogs would consider them an image close to epicski, it's ethnocentrism. I tend to think the less is more tact is best as a public face, which is what the stickers are.

I still think this says it all...  or maybe "A small internet community with a BIG skiing problem."

Maybe you could do one sheet of various stickers.  I think it was in FREEZE magazine, but Ski Utah had a sheet of stickers inserted into an issue.  One was a Yeti, one was a snowflake, etc.

I put the Yeti on my Thule box because I thought it was cool, but I am sure some people hated that Yeti, but in that case they probably just picked another sticker to use.

Sorry I skipped 8 pages, but please tell me have you got a skier silohet on the sticker yet?  Is the the site for dedicated mountain climbers?  I suggest you include a skier in a high speed turn somewhere on the mountain, but maybe that's just me.

That's why I suggested a set of tracks coming off the mountain peak.  icon14.gif
