Trying to pull the trigger for my wife`s first ski

She as well as me started skiing last season 2011/2012, she has been using an old rental rosignol 70mm waist size 150cm. 

 

About her, 5'2", 130lbs. She is a beginner and she is able to ski green, blue and the easiest blacks in good condition. She won`t go off piste no matter what and prefers grommed runs but she is okay on blue ungrommed, not much on black ungrommed.

 

Here is the list I narrowed down to:

 

Blizzard Viva 8.1 151/158

Rossignol Temptation 78 150/158

Fischer KOA 78 154

Atomic Affinity Pure 154

 

From the skis above she did demo the Blizzard Viva 8.1 151cm and liked it, so maybe I should just go with it, but I`d like to see if anyone has any experience with the others.

 

Right now I`m more in favor of the Fischer KOA 78 because of the reviews I`ve seen so far being a friendly ski and not so stiff. It seems it would require less effort than the Blizzard she demoed. 

 

Her DIN is 4.5 so it will work well with any of the bindings provided in the package.

The 8.1 is the stiffest and least compromising of the skis listed, especially in the 151 (the IQ MAX runs almost the full length of the ski). As you said the Koa is the most forgiving and friendliest and is a great option. The Temptation has the most built in shape making it a but more demanding. I would not dismiss the Dynastart Idyll as a viable option but I think you are into a winner with the Koa.

I agree with Philpug on the skis you've listed, but he didn't touch on the Atomic

While I didn't ski the Affinity Pure, I skied a few other skis in the Atomic line up and was fairly impressed with how they performed.  

 

But as Phil said, the Koa is a sure winner for the things you're looking for.

Thank you guys! 

 

That confirms my thoughts on the KOA 78, I also liked the Dynastar Idyll that Phil recommended. Maybe I will just let her make the call. but I think there is no way to go wrong for her with any of these two skis.

 

Phill, I see the Idyll has a little bit of rocker in the tail as well, while the KOA seems to have a flat tail, do you think that`s going to make any difference for her?

Okay, so we pulled the trigger on the Dynastar Legend Idyll 152cm suggested by Phill. I got a sweet deal and bought from Phill at Starthaus!

 

They also had the KOA 78, but after reading a little bit and talking to Phill the Dynastar is supposed to give her a little bit more room to grow!
