Skiing outside of Holden Village WA

Has anyone spent much time in the backcountry around Holden Village WA. Just wondering how the access is and what the terrain is like during the Winter/Spring?

Interesting question. I've backpacked in the area but never thought about backcountry skiing there. Do be aware that Holden Mine is a Superfund site that is now undergoing extensive clean up--this is going on until 2015, and it's impacting operations at Holden Village (they are housing and feeding the mine clean up workers).

The trip reports in 2011 to Bonanza and Fernow should give you an idea of what the possibilities are.

Also, here's another TR from Turns All Year: http://www.turns-all-year.com/skiing_snowboarding/trip_reports/index.php?topic=24528.0  For specific Beta, try posting in the "Random Tracks" forum of TAY.
