It's the off season and we're focused on cycling gear and apparel but the days are getting shorter.  We're getting ready for the 2013 lineup of ski gear and we thought it would be a good time to introduce you to the folks at SuburbanSkiAndBike.com who keep the machine rolling.

(General Manager/Buyer/Remote Web-Guy)

Peter has been with Suburban since 2007. He's been involved in the ski and bike industry since the early '80s.  Peter is a PSIA level II Telemark Instructor, avid cyclist and amateur photographer; he loves to travel, especially when skiing is involved.   Peter lives in Berlin, VT and commutes to Suburban every other week (Fri-Tues), he works from his home office in VT other scheduled days.  Email Peter@SuburbanSport.com for an appointment or with any questions or comments.   Skills include: Bike Fitting, Custom Boot Fitting & Stance alignment (Master Fit Certified), Custom Footbeds,  Ski Tuning and Waxing.  Peter is Suburban's go to guy for information on Nordic and Back-Country Skiing, and Ski Racing Equipment.

BruceBruce Abbott

Service Manager 

Employed at Suburban since 2004.  Involved in bike shops since 1993.  Avid Mountain biker/Snowboarder.  Skills Include: -Bike Fitting, -Sales, Any and all Bicycle repair, Custom bike specialist,  Ski Binding Tech, Ski tuning Tech. Hobbies: Making money, Avid Guitarist (Still looking for the guitar that comes with talent or the pick of a thousand truths). Novice Gardener.

Pro Sales Coordinator

Scott has been with Suburban since 2009 when Scott gave up the dream of starring in daytime soap operas.  The 2012/2013 ski season will mark Scott’s 20th year as a Professional Ski Instructor with PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America).  Scott as a Level 2 Alpine certified instructor is currently a member of the training staff at Mount Southington were he coaches fellow instructors and teaches advanced youth and adult lessons.  Scott has also served on the education staff at Ski Sundown and has taught in Ohio.  Scott serves the professional skiing community here in the store by serving as our Pro Sales Coordinator.  Email Scott for any questions regarding pro pricing: scott@suburbansport.com  Skills Include:  Bike Fitting, Custom Boot Fitting, Modification, & Stance Alignment.  Scott is also certified on our Fischer Vacuum Fit Station.

Sales/Tech

Tyler has been with Suburban since 2008.  He is a student at Lyndon State College majoring in Meteorology.  Planning to work in avalanche forecasting and mountain weather after graduating.  He also runs cross country for the college.  As an avid cyclist since a young age he now rides road, cross country and DH/Freeride and has dabbled in bike racing and triathlons.  In the winter Tyler enjoys skiing deep powder and has great experience in the backcountry of New England.  His skill include bike maintenance, ski tuning, bootfitting, and sales experience.

Webmaster

With Suburban since 2006, Pat oversees online sales and is focused on prompt order filling and responsive customer service.  An avid skier and snowboarder he has spent the past six years as NASTAR Coordinator and Pacesetter for Okemo Mountain.  In 2008 he became the first racer ever to be Age Group NASTAR National Champion in both Skiing and and Snowboarding at the same time. He is a six time Age Group NASTAR National Champion in Snowboarding.  In an earlier life, Pat was an airborne weather observer in the Air Force, a college professor, TV Meteorologist, Sky Diving Jumpmaster with 2000+ jumps (3 time Florida State Champion), barefoot water skier and a competitive gymnast and diver. Pat is an award winning sports and travel photographer, pencil drawing artist, distance unicyclist, and proud grandfather!

Budd.jpgJohn Budd

Sales/Tech

John earned a BS in Marketing at Quinnipiac University and a US Army Veteran.  He served on the Ski Patrol in Garmisch, Germany and found time to do a little racing (see below).  He spent 33 years as the General Manager for Actions Sports and is well versed in sales of skis, bikes, and kayaks.  John has attened many ski and bike industry national and regional buying shows and exhibits as a buyer for skis, bikes and kayaks.  An accomplished bootfitter, John has worked for Suburban since 2008.  John has seen the evolution of ski gear over decades and is a big fan of the new offerings.  He is one of the few bootfitters in the northeast qualified to fit you for the Fischer Vacuum process boots.  When not spending time with wife Judith and their five grandchildren, John enjoys hiking the Appalachian Trail as a section hiker having completed most of the trail from Connecticut to Stratton, ME.

Bike Technician

Jeff joined the staff of Suburban Sports this spring, after a few years in the aerospace fields. Jeff has worked in 8 different bike shops since 1983, and has raced on and off road since 1974. Jeff has built over one hundred wheels in his career, and worked on almost every type of bike made. He has owned over 62 bikes, currently keeping a mountain bike, cyclo-cross, fixie, and road bike in his stables. Recently resumed racing, and plans to have a busy cyclo-cross schedule this fall.  Jeff can overhaul Campagnolo shifters, true almost any wheel enough to make it rideable using tools found in the woods, currently possesses the Wrench of a Thousand Truths and the Screwdriver of Ultimate Darkness. His other hobbies include golf, astronomy and physics, all sorts of sciences, tall tales, subterfuge, and red herrings.

Brett Coffin

Sales/Filmer

 Brett is an avid downhill mountain biker and skier who will be attending Keene State in the fall, majoring in business managment. He also produces videos for the shop, as well as www.860-media.com. His hobbies include searching for powder, building bike trails, working on his car, drinking chocolate milk, and giving Bruce a hard time.
