Geeze, its gonna be a long summer unless things start to change. The Yampa going through Steamboat is down to 200 from a seasonal average of over 2000....

200 what from a seasonal average of 2000?

"The river was running at less than 200 cubic feet per second Sunday afternoon. The river’s average strength for that date is 2,200 cfs. The river is forecasted to slow to 120 cfs by Saturday. The Yampa River Management Plan calls for the end of recreation on the river if its flow falls below 85 cfs."

Flows are really low. My brother was in the Grand Canyon a couple of weeks ago -- I can't remember the exact spot, but he said last year it was 80,000 and this year it was 4,000, same place, same time.

The good news is that lakes are still full due to last season's bounty.

yeah, Steamboat plans to buy some of that water and release it into the Yampa. Its not good though.  4th of July is going to be very quiet this year.

Breck has nixed its Fourth fireworks unless we have significant rain for the First thru the Third. Governor is talking about no fireworks state-wide. Frisco hopes to get an exemption because they do theirs over the reservoir

And now some nut has been trying to set fires in the woods on Peak Eight.

Fires are scary here this  year too, even more than usual, and we had better precipitation than Colorado.  Stay safe out there.

I just heard about that yesterday! Something like six fires started?? I was having a conversation with a Lake Dillon fireman, we got interrupted, so I didn't get the whole story. That's just sick.

crazy, what's up with the pyro's?  Some one tried to set the lodge at the Stagecoach ski resort (closed in 1974) on fire last week. I have a real concern about hundred or two miles of beetle kill going up like matchsticks. I hope the summer cycle of afternoon t-storms kicks in (without lightening...)

Here in Florida, the heathens chuckle at me over this season's snowfall (and the current current issues...); I have to keep reminding m'self that (Seg, I think) mentioned that there hasn't been two bad seasons in a row in a long time (ever?)

Finn, remember the fire suit we made fun of for Mother's day?  You may want to see if there are a few available on Amazon Prime...
