My wife and I met Herbert Schneider at the PSIA-E Spring Rally at Stowe back in the 90's. PSIA had a memorial slalom race named after his father.

post #92 of 996/17/12 at 3:55pmI saw the tribute reposted on Facebook and couldn't believe it. I'm shocked to hear about this sudden death. I only knew Jerry a few years in the mid-late 90's, but he actually stayed in my family's cabin for a bit when he taught with me in Crested Butte. Jerry no doubt had an influence on my love of skiing, and I admired him for it. I also had a crush on his daughter, the hottest female skiier I knew at the time. On father's day, I can't help but think about Jess and her brother and how sad they must be to have to spend today without him. Bless you all.

Yep, Bergie was a great guy. I only got to ski with him twice, but the thing I'll never forget is that he was always...always pumped about the sport of skiing, and you couldn't help but feel the same way, too...

That was a wonderfully put together montage of Jerry's life. It's obvious what a close family they were. It makes it all that much more painful. My heart goes out to them.

I found this article the other day:
They are setting up a fund to help Jerry's family get through this, if anyone is interested in helping out. A lot of us on this forum, as well as being skiers, are also cyclists. This could have happened to any of us.In addition, a fund has been established to support Jerry Berg’s family, and donations—to the Dina Berg Donation Account—can be made at any branch of US Bank. Or, donations may be sent to:Dina Berg

I am late to find out the sad news but I have been away from the snow for a season,
My contact with Bergie came my rookie season as an Instructor in Steamboat in 1999/2000, I went for my cert 2 exam in March 2000 down in Aspen and I stepped deep into it with Bergie, 1st off he was bigger than life to me as a rookie and for some reason just seemed like the "head Honcho" so I was quaking while he was quizzing me on understanding during the lunch break, he wanted to see if I could explain "rotary pushoff" because I used that expression in my presentation, I fumbled it, badly, but Bergie in a calming kind of way coached me through the answer and then walked away leaving me to wonder where I stood. It took me a couple of full seasons to finally "earn" my pin but I never forget the seriousness of Coaches like Bergie and also you Bob, also one of my Examiners that day.
Thank you Bob for this thread and your Coaching but most of all my deepest sympathies in such a huge loss.
P.S. We met in Steamboat again and thanks to you I finally got my cert II pin in 2009 after being away from teaching from 2000 till 2006, it was due to Coaches like Bergie and you that I came back and started my career over again with a new appreciation for learning how to teach, more accurately. thanks Bob.
