Best all-mountain ski for the East Coast? - Page 2

Hi,

So we're www.SuburbanSkiAndBike.com  an east coast shop that sells a lot of twin tips. Several of the guys on the staff are heavy into the park scene and really liked the new Kastle Cobly James West Skis. In addition several Atomic Twins tested very well. We always do a big job with Line so it's nice when these guys understand how well the other brands perform as well.

Back to the Kastle Colby's the guys loved how light the skis were to spin while in the air and they loved the edge grip on hard snow. I'm not a jib guy and I loved the way they skied, my favorite was the James at 100mm under foot.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions we do test lots of skis.

To conclude everything, i'll mostly be on groomers and in the park. I think the twenty twelves will do me fine. They're a great pair of skis that are good in the park, can carve good on the groomers and although they are not a good powder ski, it doesn't really matter because It's all ice up here.

I guess you'll have to get farther north than Mount Snow some day to get off the ice and ski more than groomers

That's cold! Even Mt Snow has conditions and glades where you could enjoy a nice ski. He must be talking about Hunter!

And Deer Valley is Ski's best resort, so it seems everything's straightened out now.

I would value Freeskiers opinion a titch more than Ski's.

No doubt, but relying on any publication's choice is nonsense for all the reasons that have discussed here ad naseum.

And, the Ski opinion is based on readers choice, so whatever you think of Ski, they're just supposed to be reporting the 'facts" from the poll.

I assume he means "value" as what he cares about, SJ. In which case his statement makes sense. Can I figure out why Freeskier awards the scores it does, including almost always having higher scores for park skis than skis like a Bonafide or MX98 or hell, even most rockered powder skis? Or giving categories like "float" equal weighting for all skis, such that narrower skis always are at a disadvantage (unless park skis)? Or give equal weighting to "playfulness," when that's the last thing you want in a ski that may be under you in a no-fall zone? Nope. Never. Nonreplicable.

Ive also been to alpha, whistler and late tahoe. I mean sorry, but is it necessary to buy a ski with a 100 waist even going to jay on occasion. Besides, you’ll only get true powder on jay after a major storm, didn’t have too many of those this past winter.

Nice little attitude for 14 posts. Maybe newschoolers would be more your type of place.

nope been their, their so immature, call me immature; you could say, but them, their just horrible. And their information is just bias. Also their are some idiots that post on here too, other then me. I’m sorry I have an attitude, the only attitude I see, (this is attitude) is when I said piece of shit. I only said that because I asked a nice question and the guy answered with a smart remark that helped me in no such way.

Ya know, there's another thread somewhere on this site that might help you understand the difference between there, their, and they're.

I believe it even addresses the then/than issue.

Your last post indicates pretty strongly that you may want to consider checking it out...

No no, let coasthafron33 alone, in just a couple of months he will be as good as Yogi Berra, and look at how much he is quoted!

First of all, no one wants you to kill yourself.

Second.......EpicSki is a pretty fun environment with some great people.  It would be in your best interest to take time to get to know the characters a bit before calling people a piece of shit.

Third - You asked for advice and got good advice.  No one really took their shots at your grammar until you started with the name calling.

Chill  a bit

Take time to figure out the cast of characters.

Enjoy.

Oh and for a laugh......check out this thread that skierish referenced.

Bridges will work for you.  If your priority was more groomers some glades and lastly the park I would say the kendo would be a pretty good ski for you (if you are a good skier). I use it in the east and have not found any conditions where it gave me trouble. It is heavy though so not really for the park; you can jump with it, but don't expect to do much more

Thanks, I have tamed my acrimonious, needless words and emotions. I am what Susan Boyal and Whoopi Goldberg would call a changed, renewed man, after the irritable smell of Whoopi’s fart on “The View."  A man of utter wisdom, a man of absolute  respect. This unnecessary name-calling and brouhaha that is spewed out of my mouth and/or text is subjected to teenage ninja turtles. Me, myself and I, well lets just say I can’t and I never will embarrass myself.  Alas, I pardon my way and utter these words, I am a dumb ass and will not name-call in the near future, far. In conclusion,  I am not being rude, just looking forward to the very “bestest” of winter a boy could ever have! (Clifford)-- Great movie
