Advice on what size Armada JJs to get.

I'm 5'11'' and 160lbs. I normally ride 180 length skis or just under that. Unfortunately the only sizes of Armada JJ's that'll work for me are the 175s (which feel to short) and the 185s (a size I've never skied before)

I've never bought such a fat ski before so I'm wondering if I will have a tough time handling the length as well. Will the 185s be impossible to control for a guy my size or would they suit me well once I got used to them?

Any advice would be appreciated!

if you are deciding on a JJ and not a DPS 112 (hint, hint, hint, hint) then a 185.....  but then again, you could think about a DPS 112........

No one can say if you can ski them since we don't know what skills you bring to the mountain.  If you are a decent powder/soft snow skier you will be just fine.  If you went with a 112, you could always get a 184. I am 170 6' and ski the 190 with ease.  I have skied the JJ and I own the 112. IMHO, there is no comparison; the 112 is a much better ski in all respects.

If you're comfortable on a regular-camber ski in 180 (or just under) you'll have no trouble on a 185 JJ ... in the right conditions.  If the 175 felt short - meaning you've had the chance to give them a few laps - then the 185 will be spot on.  Of course, you're the one who tried the 175, and you must have been impressed to be asking about the longer ski.

I can't recall quite where, but there are some good opinions about the 184 dps112RP floating about  biggrin.gif

+1.

They are crazy easy to ski. And they're good skis too, IMO, even though I haven't tried the 112RPs.

yes, they are good but the 112's still blow them away.

Thanks guys I'm gonna go with the 185s! I appreciate the help. You're right, I should do just fine with them, especially with how incredibly well they do in the powder anyway.

Cheers  and I hope you get plenty of time on them. Glad you went with the 185. that was the correct decision
