I'm about one month out now.  Time to kick the training into gear!

Thoughts? Advice? EMS?

Cool run!  7.6 miles and 4650 vertical gain.  Based on your other posts, you seem to be working hard already.  What have you done so far, and what is your plan --  not much time.

You know this better than me, but a month is not a lot of time.  I'm sure you've been training hard and appropriately.  Three more weeks of hitting it hard and then taper time!

Best of luck,

Mike

Thanks!
I have really been coming into form & have done well in races this season. I have a couple thoughts coming into to last month. Most are around consistent training, diet & my feet!

I plan on hitting more core work on off run days. I also need to really eat well & watch my toes. I did a killer training trail run last week & really tore up my feet in the wet conditions. I also am having some trouble w shoes as Nike changes their last just about w every update. I have a new option of Asics offering me a deal, yet I have yet to trial the product. Last season I was unpleased w Nike until I swapped out for a few events w New Balance..... Don't get me wrong everyone makes a good shoe, it just may not work for a particular foot / style. If I am going to switch, I have to do it soon for this event.

I've been hitting tons o hills & have a good calender of smaller lead up events.

Thanks for the motivation! I have been getting in some good training. Yesterday I did an hour of core work & today I got in 60 minutes @ 12% incline followed immediately by 10 min of level form running.

I'm hovering around 6-7 percent body fat, so any gains will most likey be from form
& increased propulsion. My efforts on non run days are focused on getting core/lumbar/pelvic/hip stability to harness the maximum from my strides & avoid energy leakage.

I see my quick report over the weekend did not post.... I need to do a complete race recap, but I had a stacked group as this was the US Mtn Running Champs to determine the World's team. I finished in the top 10 for my class & 85 overall of the ~1200 that the race was capped at.

Not bad for a skier w a broken foot!tongue.gif

The highlight for me was how well the event was run!
I'll post a full report soon.

Fantastic!  I only wish I was in that good of shape.  It's got to feel gratifying to see your training pay off like that.
