I'm so glad I found your surgery journal while searching the web for answers. It was so helpful.
I just had the same surgery 6 days ago and was looking for reasons not to follow advice of surgeon re: wearing boot all the time.
I've recently retired after working as an RN for 47 years and have been suffering with pain in both toes for 25 years . Went the orthotic shoe route for most of that time.
Pain had severely affected my ability to walk any distance, even swimming was painful.
Nurses notoriously think they can make up their own rules when physicians give them instructions Re: their own health.. Your success and good recovery has changed my mind. After reading your blog,I'm going to do what I was told. My instructions didn't include crutches or using ice,but I'm definitely going to try the ice with my sugeons permission.
Thanks again for the inspiration and continued good lick with your skiing.
