New quad rupture member

Thread Starter
A quick background. I ruptured my left quad at 100% tear on Friday the 13h of April . Surgery was April 24th. This Tuesday will be 3 weeks post op. I found this site a week before surgery so it was very helpful insite on what to expect. I would like to add that if you have the option of a nerve block before they wheel you into surgery take it !!!! It will allow you to get thru the first night with little or no pain. Just remember ( this is something i did not remember) that you will feel good in the morning but start taking your pain pills before the nerve block wears off if not the pain will come on fast and the pills will take a while to catch. There is no reason to bs on the pain level after surgery ( the pain is intense but I feel if I would have started the pills earlier then it might not have as intense). Enough about that. The doc removed the staples last week at 2 weeks post op and said I could start pysical therapy at week 3. Based on the comments I have read on this site every doctor has a different rehab protocol. I'm a little nervous for the first pt appt this wed( at 3 weeks post op)thinking it might be too soon. I would like to hear from some of you on your thoughts of pt at 3 weeks.

On a separate note I would like to give a shout out to my wife . If not for her I would have not known how I would have gotten thru this !!! She takes me to work everyday , brings me lunch everyday, takes me home from work everyday, sponge baths, takes care of all household chores , takes care of all the pets and all with working full time. She is an angel and thank God I have her !!!

This is a tought injury but as everyone states on this site try to keep a positive attitude and look forward to improving everyday.
