I'm in the Southern hemisphere, so it's coming into our Winter and there are a few sales going on at the moment. I'm after a new pair of boots and would like to take advantage of a sale on at present.
I'm after a boot that I can use to both ski down as well as skin in. I was initially thinking about the Scarpa Maestrale as a friend of mine got them last year and rated them highly. After going to the shop today for a fit, the new Scarpa's aren't in yet but I tried on a Typhoon from last year. I have high arches and the boot was too tight across the top of my foot.
After trying on a few other boots it turned out that the Salomon Quest 10 was the best suited to my feet.
What I'm wondering though, is will the trait of the Scarpa Typhoon being too tight across the top of my foot be the same with the Maestrale also?
The Salomon Quest felt great, but I'm wondering if it's worth waiting for the Scarpa line to come in to try the Maestrale before making a decision, as I likely won't be able to get as good a deal when they do arrive as the sale would have finished, and by the sound of things there's a good chance that the Maestrale won't fit me with my high arches anyway, but I was wondering if anyone with experience with this boot could confirm if all the Scarpa have a similar fit?
If it helps at all, I am an intermediate skier looking to progress and 185lbs. Thanks!
