Free Ski Day on Sunday!

 

Chair 2 basin only. No Chair 3 or 4..

 

Webcam as of today (still good coverage..)

Dave Smith Motors (large internet dealer) is located in Kellogg, Idaho as well. They generally will 'donate' a free day every couple years when the snow is good and people aren't ready to be done skiing.

 

Gondola boards at 8am, lifts (1 and 2) run from 8:30-3pm. No services other than BBQ and beers outside at Mountain Haus, as far as I know.

 

I'll be there (obviously), anyone else going?

 

It will be 80F in town, so probably 60-65F at the top... sounds like shorts weather to me.

Very cool, I'm familiar with Dave Smith Motors, but I didn't know they did this.

Too bad only chair 2 (how did you find out SpknMike?) is rolling, got to have Chair 3 to have any real fun though SOB might be usable.

 

I was up April 28 hammering the glades and there was plenty of snow left.  If you plan it right, you can go down the North Face glades entering (sneaking through) the lowest gate, stick to the right, and and hike back on the crosscut ... it was narrow between Rendezvous and upper Centennial on April 28 with rocks starting to show so be careful.

Pretty good day. Cool surprise as they started running Chair 3 at about 10 or 11, which opened up nearly the whole mountain. Looked like they had a big turnout, though I think half the people at the lodge came up the Gondola just to party on the snow.

 

Run of the day was Sunset (which required a hike to the fire lookout to access). Moonshine was interesting with a 10 foot downclimb on dirt. SOB was thin and sloppy.

Not bad for free skiing..
