Bayern has 3 players missing as well, Alaba, Gustavo and Bardstuber.  Alaba and Bardstuber have played really well as of late, especially in the two games against Madrid.

Anyway, I'll be pulling for Bayern in this one (and every other game they play in :) ).  Aside from my love for Bayern can't dislike a team that has 50%+ players from their youth system over a team that was put together by a bored billionaire (didn't these characters use to buy horses and now they buy soccer teams?  I realize that Roman is Russian, but same difference).

Per request I've merged the two soccer threads.

I watched Chelsea fail miserably against Liverpool the other day playing without the key folks.  I've gotta assume that BM has more depth than Chelsea does.  I'd still prefer that they win though, just not very confident that they will.  Robben's playing right?

Roben should play (cards do not affect him, and I believe that he is fit).  A lot of people are saying that Bayern are favorites, but same thing was said when Chelsea faced Barca.  Should be a good game, I'd like to see Bayern win but wouldn't bet on it.

Robben is playing. I'm goin' for the Blues to pull the upset though.

I can tell you that Totti is not watching this game (yet), as he is at the Djokovic-Federer semi at the Italian Open. (Of course, I bet Nadal is watching the soccer on TV rather than the tennis match. I am trying to watch both, in addition to DU lacrosse and the hockey game. Which means I'm really not watching any of them... grrrr)

Looks like Chelsea is resorting to the same dig in and count on the defense holding firm tactic that got them past Barca. Chelsea needs to get some kind of shot on goal or counter attack going though. Way too many corners being given up.

In other news Rangers 2 Devils zip so far.. hang on NY baby.  Flipping back and forth madly!!!!

I predict Chelsea wins this match on penalties.

I'm not entirely sure I would have called that goal offsides.  It was very VERY close.

Was that meant for the hockey thread?

No, Bayern scored but the flag went up just before the shot.  Did you miss that?th_dunno-1[1].gif  Anyway, it was very close to on sides.

Great match. could have gone either way for sure, especially with that goal called back on the questionable off sides flag.  Feel for that guy that hit the post on the last shot of his career (maybe he'll come back instead?).

Unfortunately he played icon13.gifmad.gif.  Is there anyone more selfish than him in any sport?  This is the second big game since 2010 (2 one v. ones in the WC final) that he could have decided, but didn't (or did, but in opponent's favor)

Did you mean Schweinsteinger, the last PK taker today?  I don't think that was his last game of the career (at least I hope not, and so do all German fans w/ the EC coming up :) ).

I thought they said that would be his last game... maybe just in a BM kit?  I always thought Torres was a HUGE ball hog too.  Thought it was hilarious how much cash Chelsea shelled out to take him from Liverpool.

Well, it's almost official  England's EURO 2012 squad.. Still waiting for a captain to be named..

Rio Ferdinand has been left out of England's Euro 2012 squad but John Terry has been named in the party.

As had been widely reported, the Manchester United defender's name was missing from Roy Hodgson's 23-man squad when it was unveiled by the Football Association today.

England squad for Euro 2012: Goalkeepers - Green (West Ham), Hart (Man City) Ruddy (Norwich).

Defenders - Baines (Everton), Cahill (Chelsea), Cole (Chelsea), Johnson (Liverpool), Jones (Man Utd), Lescott (Man City), Terry (Chelsea).

Midfielders - Barry (Man City), Downing (Liverpool), Gerrard (Liverpool), Lampard (Chelsea), Milner (Man City), Parker (Tottenham), Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Walcott (Arsenal), Young (Man Utd).

Forwards - Carroll (Liverpool), Rooney (Man Utd), Welbeck (Man Utd), Defoe (Tottenham).

^^^Nawww.  Those mids are nonono2.gifWAY too far up.  That looks more like the "three goals down" offense.

Watching the USA friendly right now.  The MSL schedule seems a lot less forgiving towards international play than Premiere and La Liga is.  LA Galaxy and most other MSL played earlier today.  Is this the second game Donovan and most of the others played today?th_dunno-1[1].gif

Side note, the Galaxy, including Beckham and Donovan will be up the road playing the Railhawks Tuesday evening.  If I'd had a bit more notice I might have made a way to be there.

Dayummm hat trick!yahoo.gif Whatta beatdown...
