What, no football (soccer) fans? - Page 12

Costa Rica v Mexico in WC qualifying tonight. Wish I was there in time for this game. Hopefully will be there for their game against Guyana in November.

Courtesy of my friends in Costa Rica they pointed me to a live stream (and a legal one at that) of the game by Teletica, the CNN affiliate in Costa Rica.

Watching the game while packing. Clothes going to Costa Rica in one suit case, everything else in boxes to move to the new house. Costa Rica is looking very good early on. Maybe an upset of El Tri is in store.

Rumors are circulating today that Fergueson has asked Man U's board to pony up the cash to buy back CR7 in January. If that happens I can only imagine the potency of an attack that features RVP, Rooney, and Ronaldo among your front men.

His buyout clause is like a BILLION pounds and his annual salary is 12 million pounds..  so good luck keeping the other stars happy there after doing that.

No buyout clause, Real Madrid sell him (which is rumored to be in the 95 million pound range). His wage demands are in the neighborhood of 500,000 pounds a week so about double your estimate. And FWIW financially RM spent 85 million on him 3 years ago and recouped that entire fee in jersey sales alone in less than a year.

Now that we've gotten that out in the open, what are the thoughts on the recent MSM push for :Liverpool by John Henry?

They start that show, "Being Liverpool" a couple of weeks ago then go head to head on an NFL Sunday with MU VS Liverpool!

Haven't posted here in a while.

El Classico today.

ESPN has bought the rights to air Mexico's home matches up through the World Cup.

The US played pathetically against a weak Canada side last night.

So much more going on in the football world.

Can't watch the classico, but I see that's it's tied at half.  I thought Barca would make easy work of Real today, but doesn't seem to be the case.  hoping to catch a re-run tonight.

Who's gonna take Champion's League this year?

Good question, it hasn't been this tight in a long time. Of the teams that are in semis, Borussia was first in a group with Madrid. Having said that I don't think that many would bet against madrid if those two were matched up in the next round.

Two tight ones tomorrow, my Bayern is two goals up going away to Juve. I don't think that one is over as much as I would like it to be. Should be easy going if they manage a goal. Barca has the upper hand in the other game considering the two away goals, but then Zlatan The Great is on the other side. He is always good for a goal and Barca has struggled against good teams as of late.

My heart says Bayern, brain says too close too call so I am going with Byern.

Bayern uber alles!!!! (The u is with the umlauts).

My two favorites are through.. Go "B" teams hahaha..

You are a good man. I love to watch Barca play and their style, but have been a Bayern fan my whole life.  They have also been pleasing on the eye in the past couple of years, and I think they may be the "second Barca".  They hold the ball well and move it around as well.  They do all this much better w/ Kroos on the field (one of the more underrated mids in Europe in my opinion.  I'm obviously watching the games through red glasses).  I have secretly been hoping for a Bayern v. Barca match up since last year, and maybe we get it next round.  I think it would be a great game between two posesion teams, although Barca has struggled as of late so it wouldn't really be the same as last year.  Either way, next round should bring us really good matchups.

I guess most saw Bayern winning, but none by that margin. How about the reffing though!? Bayern could have easily had two PKs in the first half, and two of their goals could have been called back (2nd and 3rd). Two constant things in CL this year have been Bayern and horrible reffing (not necessarily together).

Looks like Germany has their stroke back in general.  I can remember watching "Soccer Made in Germany" on PBS when I was a young teen.  Soccer was just starting to get popular here in the states at that time.  It faded again in the mid to late 80s.  I blame Indoor Soccer for that hahaha.  It's growing again.  But, Germany is kicking ass at the moment!  Look out!

Germany 8

Spain 1

(Spain has had its day, though, for the past few years!)

Last 15 minutes were pretty interesting.  I'd take the same score tomorrow.

Well, that was pretty boring.  Best to whoever wins the trophy, I'm liking BM at this point.

Well, BM definately deserves it more based on their form all year, CL and BL included. Should be a good game, all their games have been close this year.

Yes, clearly the dominant two teams made it to the finals.  Last year was more of a Cinderella story with Chelsea getting red hot right at the beginning of the playoffs.  Manchester United takes England as usual,  Barcelona takes Spain as usual.  But now Germany's taking it all.  Gotta wonder if it is the coaching and management of talent or local talent that has Germany on top.  Anybody see them as this dominant in WC play with their national players?  I'm liking Argentina's chances in 2014 myself..
