The whites are about all I see as great values. I have not had enough experience with the less expensive reds that are on that list.

Sorry about the high priced reds. those are good prices but they are pricy. Only other problem with them is they need some bottle time. minimum 6 months to a year more. will just get better with age.. (8-10 years)

Dchan saw a clever wine label. Wine was "Goats Do Roam" Almost bought it but did not. Clever though.

Dchan,

I just picked up some 99 Brusset Gigondas and some 99 Clos du Pape Chateauneuf du Pape. Parker rates them highly but I don't plan to open 'em for a few years. I'm expecting tasting reports from your Rhone trip. I found a bottle of 97 Chave Hermitage marked down 50% too.

great find GeoffD
1999 Domaine Brussett Le Grand Montmirail Gigandas. Wonderful. It's drinkable now but yes needs time. I had a bottle to try and have since purchased 2 more. and they are sold out.

Medium Dark Garnet, nice legs,
Black Cherrys/and raisins, leather, and a hint of chocolate/vanilla on the nose. medium high acid and nice structure. Tight round tannins almost chewey. Opens up after about 30 minutes in the glass. Long lingering aftertaste with a hint of cedar...

3 to 5 years it should open up very nicely. I think 8-10 years if you like the fruit become more blended and if you like the cedar/redwood to infuse into the aroma/taste more. (my Guess) I'm planning on opening one bottle in 5 yrs.

I have not seen or tried the other one yet. and I will hopefully get to try some Chave when we go to France. The last Chave Hermitage I had was in class. it was a 1989. That to was wonderful but I don't have my notes handy. 50%? that's a steal.

I will post my notes about my france trip when we get back. I'm looking forward to it..!
