Best and worst ski area marketing...

I subscribe to Ski Area Management magazine and each year they publish the best and worst marketing for all the ski areas in the country.  This is a fun journey.  Make sure to watch the video where the ski patrolman, when speaking to a snowboarder about going to fast tells him to "shut your f***ing mouth" which was caught on video and went viral.

Thanks for posting this!

Thanks for the link.  Fascinating stuff.  Although, since I don't use Facebook or Twitter I feel out of it especially for things like real time special offers/discounts.  I liked the item about user generated snow report content at Sugarloaf, ME.

I see Squaw got a couple awards, but none for a usable website.  Ironically, someone actually ripped off Squaw's monstrosity.  Stranger than fiction.

Funny, it would seem that the joints with the "best marketing" are the ones that are least attractive to me.  Give me the antiquated, lessor known, practically vacant places with at least a rope tow.

I think we hashed that video at Snowbasin here as well.  Interesting article.

Interesting that Liberty Snowflex in VA was included.  That's the plastic+water slope at Liberty Univ.

The contrast between Massanutten and Wintergreen in terms of how they make use of their websites and FB Pages has been interesting.  Only about an hour apart.  The online vibe somewhat reflects the difference in the vibe when at the two resorts in person.

Without Facebook, I doubt Seven Springs could have gotten out the word as fast to as many people who were willing to stop by for an extra few hours on one slope after the unexpected snowstorm in PA on April 23.
