Just a few last days in Tahoe

Hi,

 

Anyone want to make a few turns in Tahoe?

 

I'm going to be at Sugarbowl on Friday, April 27 for one last day before they close. Just out skiing and celebrating..

Sugarbowl's last day of the season will be Sunday April 29th.

 

Then I am planning on making a run for Squaw (weather and resort permitting) on May 13th, Mothers Day and my Birthday..Squaw's last day of operation according to reports. Squaw is daily through April 29th and weekends (Fri-Sun) through May 13th.

 

PM me if you want to meet up for a few runs.

I'm working on Friday, The weekend of the 13th, Your Birthday, we'll be at Arapahoe Basin for the weekend.

You're going to be kinda lonely over at Squaw in May. This Sunday is Squaw's last day. It will be Alpine Meadows only and Fri-Sun only starting next weekend through May 13. After that, Donner Ski Ranch until they run out of snow.

Bummer. Squaw changed its mind? According to earlier report Squaw was going to do the same. Weekends thru the 13th.

Maybe Alpine the on the 13th. Will see what the resorts do.

Not sure where you heard that. What I posted is what they've been saying since they started saying something. I haven't heard it from anyone who actually knows, but speculation is that it's just a whole lot cheaper to run Alpine than Squaw. You can keep Alpine open with just one lift and a few people to man the bar and beer carts on the deck.

 

I'm hoping to hit the pool/hot tub at High Camp tomorrow afternoon with my daughter.

I chatted with a buddy today that has a squaw season pass.

 

He confirmed what you said. No mention of squaw staying open past this weekend however he is speculating that since Squaw and Alpine are now "joined" that some people are saying "Squaw is staying open" by sending people to Alpine. IE: "Squaw season pass holders can ski weekends though 5-13 (by going to alpine)"

 

Will be watching the weather and conditions to decide if it's worth the drive up for a half day of skiing at Alpine on May 13th.

 

Now all I need to do is find a way to get a cheap ticket. Since our resort will be closed it might be hard to get a letter from my Director telling them that I am a PSIA member and employed at Sugarbowl.

We might maybe go to Alpine the weekend of the 13th, TBD currently.

Saw a guy skiing buck naked at Heavenly today. He had a glove he was holding over his man bits. 

 

No skiing next weekend, got some stuff to do around the bay area, but maybe skiing again that weekend of the 13th...

Its actually Dchan's birthday but I'm sure he enjoys the good wishes and I will take it as an early birthday wish for me (my birthday is in September)

was anyone at Alpine this past weekend? how's the snow holding up to those 50+ degree days?

 

is it getting cold enough at night to get that spring corn?

Change of plans. Thinking maybe we will ski Friday, May 11th instead. Avoid the last day "rush" and conflict with Mothers Day

 

Anyone want to hook up for a few turns?

Thanks Hellside for the lift tickets and Thanks ELeeski for the turns. It was fun and a great way to end the season (celebrate my birthday and successful L3 ski exam)

 

Spending time with friends and family... Always a good time.

 

If anyone is going up this weekend from San Francisco Bay area and needs a lift ticket, The one Hellside gave me still has one more day on it. You will just need to arrange to get it from me.

 

 

PM me.

 

Also Reminder, Alpine's lift operation is Round House and Summit chair only.  Hours of operation are 8:00-1:00  It was firm starting the morning but got real nice around 9:30. Started to get sticky around 11:00. Early look for areas in the sun, around 10:00 start hunting for areas that were in the shade. (west facing slopes)

 

If you go up, Have fun... If your season is over Have a great summer.
