Bonus points for naming the town in the background. It's kinda famous.

The terrain looks familiar but I'm stumped.

I saw that movie like 20 years ago. (without looking it up on IMDB), Don Johnson in some post apocalypse time, right?

The movie is actually called  A Boy and His Dog.   Don Johnson was young but certainly grown up. I always thought the name of that movie didn't reveal much about it's content and wonder how many mom's picked it up at the Video store for their kids or the kid told his Mom the title and got approval.

My guess is Deadwood or Sturgis. It just looks like that part of the country

The movie was based on a short story by Harlan Ellison -- a writer worth checking out if you are a sci if fan...

It's a picture that we took a couple of weeks ago -- so the subject (and background) is both local and contemporary.

Hint: the town is famous for a song by a fellow who worked as a ranchhand nearby and went on to become a Margarita fan (hi Marcia!).

Ringling, Ringling
Slippin' away
Only forty people, livin' there today
Streets are dusty and the bank has been torn down
It's a dyin' little town

I am a Jimmy Buffet fan

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!

Anyway, I've never seen such a mellow dog in a sidecar before.
