Lift tickets

The way the lift ticket discount works is as a group sale. That means I need to collect the monies and order the tickets in advance in order to get people the $53 lift ticket rate. If you don't order in advance, you'll have to go retail or to Costco. The order doesn't have to be in until 30 days prior to the first day.

I will have to send in a deposit of $1000 to secure this rate.

Joan, will the $53 ticket give us access to Moonlight, the North Summit Snowfields, and Headwaters?  I suspect the answer is no, but if that's the case, is there a way to upgrade the ticket for the combo ticket?

The plan is to do one (optional) day at Moonlight rather than the combined ticket, because there are no discounts to be had on that ticket. I plan to contact MB and BB next week about a ticket deal.

It looks like our Bridger Bowl day will be around $42. Prices won't be set for another month.

I'm still waiting to hear from Moonlight Basin on their ticket price for the group.

I think what I'll do is set up a PayPal account where people can order their tickets and pay for them in advance. That way we will be able to get latecomers on the order until close to the start of the event.

Since all holders of any Montana Season pass half day rates I'm curious what that price is in relation to the group rate. Please post if you know or I'll search and post it later for the likes of N. I'D Pete and others like myself.

The Moonlight Basin ticket (group rate) will be $51.

Teledance, I believe the group rate may be better than the season pass holder rate, but I will double-check.

Joan, have you heard back from Moonlight Basin yet about their lift ticket pricing for the group?

Yes, MB will be $51 as a group sale.

When last I skied Big Sky (with Jgiddyup and Little Bear) two or three years back, my Snowbowl pass allowed me a $9 discount off of full price (I think I paid  $69). Nolo's $53 dollar price is a steep discount, and is making me seriously consider plunking some money down.

I'll set up a PayPal payment page after Labor Day and we can take orders up until two weeks prior, I believe. I put down a $1000 deposit to secure the Big Sky rate. MB and BB did not need one.

Thanks for ensuring the discount.  How many tickets do you need to sell to satisfy the deposit guarantee?

Hard to think about skiing and gatherings in August, but I'm sure we'll have a lot of interest as the season gets going and this gains momentum.

We need to have 20-25 buyers.

Sounds good and I like the Paypal as an easy way to get the tickets.  FYI If payments are made as a personal payment owed, rather than a purchase of goods or services, you can avoid fees (the buyer pays). The fees can add up pretty quickly.  Another way to avoid fees is if we send checks.  Hopefully this won't be a big time sink for you. Thanks again for setting it up.

Thanks Joan.

Thanks Joan for securing these discounts.  The paypal ordering system and prepayment plan sounds good to me as well.

Will it be possible to get discounted lift tickets for Big Sky for the weekend before or after the Gathering?  Probably most interested in Sun, March 24.  If had to pay full price, then more likely to ski at Bridger that day.

Generally the policy is that we can extend the discount after the beginning date, but not before, but I can check on that. Customizing the group ticket order can get pretty time-intensive on the part of the organizer (that'd be me).

Not trying to make more work for you.  Just figured someone else would wonder too once they start getting serious about travel planning.  Southwest released their flights through mid-April last week, so I'm on it.  If the answer is "no", everyone who arrives at Big Sky or Bozeman on Sat will figure out something fun to do before meeting up at Bridger on Mon.

Since the weekend after the Gathering is Easter weekend, could be that more people decide to ski Big Sky the weekend before and/or fewer people staying for the weekend after than usual.

I will definitely check into it, as your logic is impeccable!

The ticket deal with Big Sky can be extended 3 days prior and 3 days following the Gathering. The plan is to ski Bridger Bowl on Monday March 25 and the assumption is that most of us would move on to Big Sky after skiing that afternoon, but you can start your ticket earlier if you wish. Just check with me so I order it properly.

That's great, mean the weekends of March 23-24 and March 30-31 are included.

I clarified that with Big Sky and as long as you order your ticket from us ahead of time you will get in on the group discount without further ado. Sorry about the misunderstanding, which was 100% mine.

nolo: questions about the Big Sky lift tickets

1)  Are they for a particular day? Or can someone order 3 tickets and use them any three days between March 22 and April 1?

2)  Can someone order 2 tickets, then add another one later?  Before March 1 of course.

1) The tickets are sold x out of x+1 days -- e.g., 3 out of 4 days, 4 out of 5 days, etc. Whether you buy one or four tickets, you must pick a start date. They don't care what that start date is so long as it is within the dates of our visit (or you wouldn't be part of our group).

2) Yes, but I would caution people not to make this too complicated or I might not be such a sunny delight as I usually am.cool.gif

Thanks!  I pretty much know what I want to do, but am going to wait until Jan when my friends are more likely to have decided what they want to do.

I appreciate the research on getting the best ticket deal.  However my experience suggests that the combined ticket is very desirable, and probably even more so in late season when you may want to follow the sun around the varied exposures.  Also the North Snowfields run from Lone Peak into Moonlight is just spectacular and for the advanced or better contingent of Bears (about 3/4 by my observation) it is not to be missed.

So assuming we meet the critical mass for a group ticket arrangement, I hope you can push hard for something on the combined.  I would be more than willing to pay the Epic discount Big Sky price + $14 (window combined ticket price - window Big Sky price) for every day we are at Big Sky/Moonlight.

There are no discounts on the combined ticket. If anyone wants to buy a combined ticket, please feel free to make your own arrangements. smile.gif
