Short Winter- Lake Dillon virtually ice free

Not only have we not gotten a lot of snow this year here in Summit, but temps have been so warm that the ice on Lake Dillon looks to be 99% gone.

Each year there is a raffle on when a clock place on the Lake will drop it...the earliest in the last 27 years was April 28 with last year being May 23.

Tickets are normally sold until late April, but the lake is now virtually ice free so the clock must have dropped sometime earlier this week.

I`ve been the the Raven golf course driving range twice so far and they said the course was going to open yesterday.

Clear Creek county currently has a ban on open fires.

Closing day at Vail is normally a lot of fun with many interesting costumes, but the forecast is for SNOW which will likely fall on mostly closed terrain.

Sad, sad, sad. When I came up on Sunday it had Ice and by Tuesday it was pretty much ice free.

Scary how ridiculously warm it was this winter with little snow.

Opens up a the real problem come spring and summer, forest fires and lack of water.   Streams will dry up early this year due to lack of snow pack.
