I was reading Kim Kircher's blog this morning, as I usually do, and had to smile at the quote from the subject of the blog today, Ross Gregg - “It’s a thrill to go fast, but it’s an art to turn.”
In a time of gear technology making it easy to survive nearly anything without honing skills, has the art of the turn been lost on the masses? Sometimes I think so.
Is there anything to be gained from going back to old technology when skill was critical?
That being said, When we did a retro day and I skied old school skis that had no shape, I realized that I didn't know how to ski well on old school skis, so I had no old tools in my bag of tricks to help me survive that day. Thanks to friends who knew how to teach me so I got some fun turns in.
