Im looking for race skis for my 1997 born daughter who weighs 99lbs/45kg and is 5ft 3/160cm tall. At the moment she skis on atomic 144, 165 and 175, slalom, gs and super g skis, but next year will have to go on to bigger skis so she doesnt have a huge jump in length when she starts fis. The coach has recommended that as she should be on longer skis to get ones with a softer flex. So which brand generally makes the softest flex junior race skis?

Softest junior race skis?
I'd look at Rossi and Dynastar. My daughter is younger, and so on smaller skis, but there was a big difference between some of the skis. Rossi/Dynastar was the softest.
agreed rossi/dynastar (basically the same ski) are probably the softest skis out there

Although they have a reputation for being stiff, Atomic skis are now at the softer end of the spectrum. If you go with Atomic, keep your receipt because i have seen a lot of these skis delaminate earlier in ythe season.
Nordica skis have a nice even flex pattern that makes it easier to ski longer lengths.
Volkl junior skis are stiff, stiffer than Nordica and Rossi/Dynastar.
Rossi/D-star are inthe middle.
Head skis are soft and the kids who have switched to Rossi all said found the Rossi skis to be more stable
Blizzard, Nordica, Rossi and Dynastar are making transition skis in the 170 cm length to help kids bridge the gap betwen junior and adult skis. Nordica is coming out with new skis for next year.
Thanks for the help. Both her pairs of race 12 slalom skis have delaminated one only brought in december! She is on atomic race 12s for slalom and gs at the moment and is happy with them but they only make the 170 gs with a double deck would that make it stiffer?

I don't know why there've been Atomics delaminating this year - we haven't had any problems with Atomics, maybe a different production run. From what the kids say the DoubleDeck doesn't make them any stiffer, if anything a little easier to initiate, but a little smoother/damper when the courses are difficult. If you can find some to borrow/demo that's the best way to tell but I know it's sometimes hard to find the right gear to try.
