ski racks...for car and adjustable for bikes...suggestions?

Thread Starter

i have a 2006 mazda3 hatchback...wondering if i can get some helpful suggestions, please, for a good quality but affordable ski rack that you car, and adjust for bikes etc

unsure if to get one that goes on top of the roof, vs on the back of the car.

seems when looking at a thule or yakima each add on costs about 200-300 bucks, on top of the 'foundation base' etc.

I could be wrong, but I think the best racks are specific to the sport.

Versatility for different sports applications may also lead to compromises for each application. th_dunno-1[1].gif

A ski carrier, can cost up to $200 (or more), depending on capacity and if you get a standard Thule style, sliding style, Yakima Powder Hound or Yakima FatCat.

A bike carrier can cost up to $200, depending if you want an "upright" (where you don't need to remove the wheels).  Fork mounted carriers can cost less than $100.

Not including the cost of locks of course

I think the price you saw is pretty much what you are gonna have to pay... I believe the only thing you can use for both as you said it the bars and that's it!
