6 Traits that separate Winners from Whiners

Saw this article and, much to my dismay, I'm more whiner than winner!!!eek.gif

I think I could be a better skier if I weren't' such a whiner

Its time for me to suck it up and be a Winner!

http://www.pickthebrain.com/blog/6-traits-that-separate-winners-from-whiners/

1) Whiners Focus on the Past, Winners Focus on the Present and Future

2) Whiners Cast Blame, Winners Take Responsibility

3) Whiners React, Winners Think

4) Whiners Freeze, Winners Take Action

5) Whiners Look for Validation, Winners Lead by Example

6) Whiners Waffle, Winners Decide

Seems pretty spot on, although #1 is often confused with incipient geezerdom.

Whiners look around to blame others when they make a mistake.  Winners find ways to make mistakes work in their favor, even make it look like they did it on purpose!

Whiners make GREAT bureaucracy winners.

Whiners complain about other whiners.

Winners worry about their own behavior.

Whiners complain.

Winners come to play.

Whiners complain about the visibility in the big snowstorm.  . Winners hit the trees and love every minute of those days

Those of us in Europe just ski blind when we can't find any trees. If the snow's good, it's all good. Besides, you don't need to see to ski.

It's an outdoor sport. Put your big girl panties on and deal with it.

Um, not the greatest choice of words "hit", but I'm on board with that idea...if only it wasn't so cold and wet, and if the wind doesn't blow, and if I don't hit rocks under the fresh snow, and my car doesn't get stuck in the lot, or my windshield wipers don't stick to the windshield.  Don't you just hate it when your boots are cold, and they don't want to come off so you can drink in the bar instead of skiing in a storm?

Winners know how to cheat without getting caught.

I would send him there, but believe it or not, we never made it around to seeing Shrek.  I think it came out around the time our son was a baby.

Most humans, at various different times of their lives, exhibit all of the traits attributed to BOTH winners and whiners, often oscillating between the extremes.  The article is an excellent example of how people use denial to distance themselves from the awareness that they are just as much a flawed human as those they look down on, or just as capable as those they look up to.
