DIY Dynafit-style ski holster?

Hi I was wondering if anyone has tried to make their own ski carrying system for their backpack?

I really like the Dynafit system, with the single sided "sheath", then the over the shoulder clip, but I do not like their other features.

I was planning on getting the loop and hook sewed on to my single pocket climbing rucksack. Has anyone attempted it?

Not sure about making one on the backpack, but we bought a DIY strap system from the Ski Patrol at Highlands that was pretty slick.

Hopefully someone with experience will chime in.

Good Luck!

I have a Dynafit Manaslu pack; the ski goes thru a loop at the bottom left of the pack, then across or along the pack and is secured with an extensible shoulder clip (it retracts into the right shoulder strap when not in use).  It is handy and it carries skis well.  I'm not sure what the sheath is that you are  talking about.  I would suspect you could make a serviceable "clip" with a camlock strap. Many packs have a compression strap at the same location as the Dynafit plastic covered strap at the bottom left of the pack.  The best part of the system is that you don't have to take the pack off to take the ski off (and it you are skinny enough, I'm not, you can also put the ski on the pack without taking the pack off).
