Wheel scratch on Smith Variant Brim

I bought a Smith Variant Brim helmet this season, which I am very happy with except for the wheel at the back of the helmet.  Whenever I turn around to look uphill at a family member or ski buddy this wheel scratches the back of my neck.  I tried tying a cloth over the wheel to provide some padding, which helps but it tends to come off.  Has anyone figured out a more elegant solution to this?

I am a bit surprised that it hits the back of your neck if it fits your head properly.

This one makes me scratch my head.

I unsnapped the whole mechanism out and the helmet is way more comfortable.

Thanks Black Dog!  Did not realize that you could do this.  I just tried it and the helmet fits me just as snug without this contraption.  No more neck irritation when I tilt my head up to look upslope! These forums are  great.
