Black Pearl Skis, What length?

I skied with the Black Pearl Women's skis in Snowmass, and absolutely loved them!  Felt that I could maneuver well over bumps, through trees and with speed.  (Perhaps not best edges for Nastar racing).  Turned them in to take a day off, and only men's version available to try.  Technician told me they were same technology, but couldn't really tell.  Both in 166 length, because of their stock.

Normally ski on longer skis, but don't want to compromise the fun!  But they did chatter a bit when up to speed.

I'm 6' tall and 150 lbs.  I always rent skis, because I only ski 6 - 12 days a year, but loved these skis enough to purchase.  Should I go up to 173, or wait until next year's version and hope I can demo those in Telluride?

I can't imagine 166 being the right length for you at 6'.  I demo'd the BPs at Big Sky and also loved them.  I'm 5'0" and was on the 159.  The skis I own are 154 all-mountain.

I also would not recommend that length. I am 5'5'' and 115 and wondered if I should get a length longer than the 166 because of the (modest) rocker on the BP. I ended up with Kastle FX 94s (no rocker) in 166 (got a really really great deal). I was also not fond of the BP graphic.

Welcome to the Club of Black Pearl lovers! I demoed them this year with no intention of buying and bought them because I loved them so much. I personally bought mine in a 159, and I'm 5'5" 125, but I am an advancing intermediate and they felt perfect for me at that length. I'm not a speed demon so they felt just perfect. (I'm working on changing that speed thing--they helped me push way past my previous limit in one day--love them!)

I would say that length would be rather short for you. It's too bad you couldn't demo the Bushwackers in the longer length at the same time. If you can hold out until next year, it might be worth your while.

I love the graphics. They are so original and different!
