Boreal, backed by Utah-based Powdr Corp., completed an 11th-hour deal last night to assume ownership of Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley from previous owner KSL. Buoyed by excellent snowmaking, Boreal was positioned to move in on two of the jewels of the Sierra. The deal-making wasn't done with Squawlpineal, though. Early this morning, Colorado-based Vail Resorts purchased the rights to Incline Village, it's third large purchase in the Tahoe area in as many years. "Vail is pleased to bring in a town, not just a resort, where our customers can feel completely at home from day 1. This is a turnkey deal for us, no vagrant hippies to price off of our property or scare our clientele. Incline is ready to go," according to a press release issued by the company, which already owns Heavenly, Northstar California and recently purchased Kirkwood.
