Yet another Universal sports thread!

OK, I'm trying to make sense out of communications with Universal Sports.  Once again I bought the Universal Sports package.  This year it seems that for many races only the live feed is offered and the show with commentary which I presume is the television coverage is unavailable.  This includes Kitzbuhel Downhill!  I do not have Direct TV and can not get Direct TV (too many tall douglas firs and mountains in the way). Now that the season is over I had hoped to watch some of the old TV broadcasts of the races that most interested me. (During the season I was happy with the live-feed.) E-mails between me and customer service implied that some races had no coverage other than the live feed.  I find it hard to believe that a network that wants to broadcast alpine sports would not broadcast on TV the Kitzbuhel downhill.   Has anyone seen the alpine coverage on direct TV? Did they have a show on Kitzbuhel?

Second does anyone know how to watch the first three races at Beaver Creek which continue to be blocked out to package holders? I missed the Men's Super-G and the first Giant Slalom. The site says

They will be available on-line on-demand ONLY following the completion of the events.

But they have yet to list how that will be done and the season is long over.  My questions about Beaver Creek to customer service have not been addressed at all.  Even the Audi Beaver Creek site does not have clips of these runs from universal sports.  Are they hoarding them?

yes, there was a TV broadcast version of the Kitz DH, SG & SLs.

No, there was no broadcast of the races at the Beav

the prior 2 seasons (the first being totally free!) was about as good as it gets for W coverage.

I expect nothing but deterioration of broadcast and live-feed presentation for the coming seasons, at a higher cost.

I.E. - last year the cycling package was $34 for the entire season - Feb thru Oct.

NBC/UniSports now has a 'Spring Season package thru the Giro for $40 and I expect the same for the Vuelta and Worlds coverage from August/Sept and on...

high expectations bring disappointments

way of the world...

Hello, I am an employee of Universal Sports and I am writing to address your comments and concerns.

With regards to our coverage for the Kitzbuhel downhill, it’s currently available for replay if you have purchased the event itself or the Alpine Skiing World Cup Season Pass.  If your problem persists, you may contact me at mmcloon@universalsports.com and we can try to troubleshoot any issues you may be having.

Regarding your Beaver Creek replay coverage question, we do not own the rights to the Beaver Creek races that took place December 2-4.  While the race itself was on NBC, Universal Sports does not own similar content rights. The other Beaver Creek footage available for replay on universalsports.com is from a race that was scheduled to be in France. However due to the lack of snow on the mountain, the event was cancelled and moved to Beaver Creek. The customer service representative was correct when they informed you that some races Universal Sports covers live on TV are not available for replay online because it is usually a matter of the Network not owning the rights to re-air them.

Lastly, the pricing of our event subscriptions on a year by year basis are fluid and subject to change. Universal Sports Network’s Cycling coverage is unprecedented and the most extensive for American fans of the sport. It consists of over 110 hours of cycling programming that includes 2 of the 3 Grand Tours (Giro d’Italia & La Vuelta a España) as well as historical and popular Spring Classics, the Track & Road World Championships, Cyclocross World Cup and World Championships, and Mountain Biking World Cup and World Championships. We appreciate your continued support of our Network and the sports we provide and plan to continue on providing.

I also thank Universal Sports for commenting on this thread and explaining the situation. I apologize for being away and not doing so sooner.  The following quote made clear to me why so many races had only the live feed available for package buyers:

Thanks for being open and upfront and being willing to reply on a forum.
