Honda Pilot - Thule box issue

Anyone know of an easy fix?  We can't open the rear hatch all the way of our Pilot with the Thule box on. I have the factory rack slid up as far forward as I can and have the holes positioned in the Thule box accordingly.

Do I need to drill new holes in the Thule box? -- I don't want to affect the integrity of the box.

It's kind of a pain loading the car from the side.

I have drilled new holes in the bottom of my Thule about 4 years ago. I have not had any problems. I do use a metal backer strap on the inside and the outside of the mounting holes. Just use the slotted type found at the hardware stores for use on U-bolts. I didn't purchase the Thule new, and the factory mounting bolts were not with it. I use U-bolts and wing nuts. They work great. Good Luck!

Thanks!

I drilled mine too for the same issue. I'm using the factory mounting plates.

+1 for my Forester.  This is one of the main reasons I LOVED my Trooper LS, side by side rear doors!

Same here. Drilled mine to fit on my MDX. No problems.
