First day skiing was Sat. the 24th. Arrived too late yesterday afternoon to get out on the hill but the front didn't look too bad. driving bad Today, skiing at Vail revealed they have lost a lot of cover in the past month when we were here last.
I think my friend I ski with summed it up best when saying with all the sunshine you need to have a decent snow pack in the spring to sustain . With 213 inches YTD this year it just isn't holding up.
First up this morning at 8:30 am skiing frozen groomers. The bowls are really chewed up and showing alot of bare spots. Blue Ox has lots of bear areas.
At 2 PM the temp at Mid Vail was showing 53F. Felt a good bit warmer in the sun.
If it stays warm and doesn't snow any appreciable amount any time soon I think the 4/15 closing is going to be pretty grim skiing conditions.
Were here through Tuesday. Hopefully it snows between nnow and then. Forecast isn't real encouraging maybe a couple inches Monday night. We'll take it!
