I attended the Snowy Luau Weekend at Timberline ski area in Canaan Valley, WV, on March 17 and 18, 2012. Conditions were somewhat sketchy and soft with temps in the 60s, but in this wacky winter any spring skiing is good spring skiing. I stayed in one of the Canaan Valley Resort cabins with a small group of friends on a buy one night, get a second night free special deal. We skied Saturday (mostly sunny) and Sunday (partly cloudy with rain before dawn and sprinkles after noon). They had four trails open from the top with 1000 feet of vertical; one green, two good blues, and one black diamond bump run. It was just enough variety to be fun and everyone was in a party mood. What more could you ask for: spring skiing, good people, Snowy Luau festivities, and St. Paddy’s Day all wrapped up in one!
I'm going to send out a blast of pictures as a way to share them with folks I made turns with this weekend.
Me and SCWVA (on right). SCWVA is a ripper and gets my vote as ski dad of the year. He and wife bring five young kids to the mtn when they go skiing and they all get on the hill together for good family times.

Saturday night they lit a huge bonfire accompanied by Hawaiian drummers and music as a prelude to fireworks and a torch light (lava) parade down the mountain.
Trust me, this is a fireworks show off the ~4300' summit of the mtn with about 75-100 skiers/snowboarders holding torches and coming down the mtn under the display
THAT'S ALL FOLKS.
