Volkl Mantra Identification Help, which ones do I have?

Just picked up some 184 Mantra's claimed to be a 2005-2006 model, with the 94mm width.

Are these the models that were stiffened up after the grey ones came out?

Also, will these do ok on shallow pow at Alta?  I don't plan on going off piste much as I'll be with family....

The boot center seems to be in the right place (814mm from the tail) as I heard the earlier ones were mis-marked.

I just skied on them for the 1st time and i cant believe how maneuverable they were. fun fun fun..... as I just skied a Kendo in a 163 the week before and thought the 184 would be much more labor intensive... not the case.

I'll be at Alta for the 1st week of April and I hope these will do double duty in some shallow pow  as I know they rip on groomers

Those boots still rock... I fit in them still better than the Dalbello Krypton Rampages.....

If you can read the serial number off the left sidewall near the mounting reference mark, the first two numbers should be the production year.  For example 061234567.  The production year would be 2006.  That set of skis would be a '06/'07 model.

Edit:  Some ski companies code their skis that way.  K2 does it similarly.  Many don't have such coding.  I am not 100% sure if Volkl run this system (maybe 90%).

I ski those in 184.  They are 2006/2007.  They'll handle anything up to about 2 feet of pow, no problem.  Great great skis.

Those are stiffer than the gray ones, not as stiff as the later 96mm models.  They should be fine for the conditions you describe.  They were my one ski quiver for a long time, but skiing at Squaw it's hard not to succumb to size envy.
