Best all-round skis for an instructor?

Thread Starter

I've been skiing on k2's free luv skis, which are great for teaching, but not so good for vigorous skiing because they're too flexible and throw me out of sharper turns... Can anybody recommend ski's that are good for teaching beginners AND skiing?

Thanks everyone  smile.gif

Hi Gracie,

First, welcome to the site.

So it looks like you are looking for a ski that you can teach and have fun also.  Since I do not know what kind of snow conditions that you have to deal with down in Australia, I will make some suggestions based off ski categories.  Research them to your heart's delight.  I am sure that many have been reviewed here on the site.

75-80mm Waisted Skis

Blizzard Viva Magnum 7.6

Blizzard Viva Magnum 8.1

K2 Superfree

Atomic Affinity Pure

Atomic Cloud D2 75

Salomon Origins Bamboo

85-90mm Waisted Skis

K2 Superstitious

Atomic Affinity Storm

Volkl Kenja

Blizzard Black Pearl

Line Celebrity 90

Salomon Lady

Dynastar traditionally has had an awesome line of women's skis.  I am just not familiar with them.  Maybe someone might mention a few.

Trekchick teaches at her local mountain and has a great understanding of skis.  I am sure that she could make some suggestions.

Good luck with your search.

Dennis

This is probably an obvious one, but do avoid twintips for teaching. Hard to see demos when there's a rooster tail. Also, the skinnier the ski, the more you'll be able to lean it over during the demo. Frontside carvers are ideal.
