Someone needs to forfeit their win because they did not follow the rules. 100 words or less.  The  "expert panel at Opedix" needs to explain too.  Looks bad and is not good business.

Until you brought this up, I did not realize that I went over the 100 words.

Thank you for bringing it to my attention.  I will happily and humbly step down, and let another worthy participant take my place.  I have contacted the people who ran the contest and expect to hear from them shortly.

TC,

Though I'm a stickler for rules, it will be a shame if you aren't in the group.  You do a very good job of reviewing items and many here value your opinion.

Sign on my office wall:

"Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly."

For that response you should get to keep them.  Opedix ought to award one more and alls good.  JMO.

Perhaps the generous people at Opedix can award a different contestant and still provide for our "Gear and Reviews" editor some tights to test and review. smile.gif

Thanks all for your kind words.  It was an honest mistake and I am sorry for the confusion I caused both here and with the sponsor of the contest.

I woke up to an email that indicates that they may do just that.....award another winner and still allow me to try a pair.  Thank you Opedix! biggrin.gif

Opedix is sincerely trying to get their product out there in the hands of people who will get use out of it, and give it solid reviews.

Heck, I'm just excited that EpicSki is running the contests differently, through an outside source, so that I'm eligible for these contests.  yahoo.gif

That would require Greg Stump to actually use ski footage filmed in this century.

He produced the Opedix video in the first post of this thread. wink.gif

It contains old and new footage.

I'm sorry for the confusion and misunderstanding. We've been in communication with Trekchick and will PM a new winner later today. Thanks again for everyone's participation in the contest!

I guess I'd prefer Epic's Gear and Reviews Editor was not eligible to win such contests, for obvious reasons...

I understand mmckay's desire to get his product into the hands of those best positioned to promote it, but I'm more skeptical about the dubious benefits of these tights now than before, if that's possible. Send internet product reviewers product to review, do not select them in a contest. Bogus.

Telerod, that was my error.  I hadn't thought about it and posted, not even seriously thinking that I'd be close to winning.

When I was contacted by Opedix, he was surprised that I was a gear review editor on the site, so I'm guessing that it was overlooked during judging as well.

In the future, I'll be more careful to not enter such contests.

I sincerely appreciate your honesty and take it to heart.   Thank you for bringing it up.

You shouldn't feel bad.  But I would totally love for you and me to put our heads together to plan something evil........wouldn't that be a kick!?

Uh yeah, maybe. Phil might find out though.

I won a pair of Opedix tights all I have to do is to review them. Pretty cool, I’m happy to do it, I spoke with the rep who sized me up and told me he’d be shipping a pair out to me.

If you’ve been watching the weather here in Vermont (or just about anywhere) you know March is coming in more like May , I can’t be sure how much snow my mountain will have by this coming weekend and after that the long term forecast is an all out assault on winter.

So anyway during the course of our conversation I understand the tights were conceived as an alternative to hard knee braces. I think of them as a pair of performance enhancing tights.  When I heard quad fatigue reduction I perked up, I’m also a gym rat so I know a thing or two about muscle fatigue (and failure). That got my attention because I’ve noticed that skiing eastern moguls destroys my quads faster than a set of heavy squats. (I’m still learning) I see these as having the potential to be a performance enhancer.  I’ll let you know how it works out. Stay tuned!

OK let me tell you about the Opedix tights, they came just in time for me to wear them today. These are a well made pair of tights ,what you’d expect from a high end base layer. I am 6’-2” -205 lbs which put me in a large. It used to be I had the scrawny leg thing going on but I guess all these years in the gym paid off. What I am getting at is that the size is right on but right about lower leg area I feel like I could use the XL (but wouldn’t know what to do with the extra waist).  At any rate the fit is best described as tights and the support in immediate. The second material is a much less spandex and very heavy duty, running down the quad and adding support to the knee area surrounding it and giving you a little added something that's hard to describe but when you put them on you feel it.

SO what did they ski like you might wonder? How about this, I was fairly impressed, I put them on this morning for my level 2 exam and skied well, (at least I thought so) (we’ll see about that after tomorrow), but the temperatures were in the 80’s (yes really I swear!) I had to peel them off for the afternoon.  I noticed a difference, sure conditions degraded after the temps rose but I could feel the additional support my quads were getting (only after I took them off).

The bottom line? I have one more examiner to ski with tomorrow,it’s going to be nearly as warm,I’ll be wearing them.  I wish it were a little colder BUT with these type of conditions I think the tights showed their worth to me.   What kind of conditions? Brown snow everywhere, puddles, pools, chopped up base and not the typical corn snow, more like a seven eleven slurpee kind of snow. A real challenge to stay balanced and perform all these PSIA maneuvers in.

You might notice I said nothing about knee problems,I have pretty decent knees but I know plenty of people who don’t.   If you ski and you require extra knee support you owe it to yourself to give them a try!

I got the Opedix at the end of last week and will be trying them tomorrow.

I got them last week too but there isn't any skiing left.  Or at least there isn't any skiing I'm willing to subject my skis to.  The past week almost each day was in the 80's!

Any thoughts on a fair "similar to" activity?
