TR: Sunshine at Silver "Powder" Thursday

Great day up at Silver today. Probably the least busy I've seen it the past few seasons. (Maybe the cheap day at Lookout and the reported "3 inches new" kept some away?)

Shared first chair with Epic member teledancer. Skied the south aspects all morning. Wardner Peak and the traverse skied really well. Moved to the Glades in the afternoon for 5 or 6 laps of untracked steeps. No face shots or anything like that but the snow was nice and soft in the trees and probably was closer to 6" inches new in the wind protected areas.

S-turns on Morning Star. Which are mine?

Wardner Peak in the sunshine! Boot packed and dropped the cornice a couple times and once off the top.

Silver has the steeps! Found this area inbounds.. it's gotta be 50 degrees plus.

Really warmed up in the parking lot. Go away Spring!

Nice! I am realizing how bad I missed out on that day! Thanks a lot  of showing me around Mt Spokane, I had a blast. The backside was super and I am looking forward to coming back. BTW,  I just learned that I will be back March 19 to 23.... Some more turns together?

Thursday was a great day.  To celebrate my April 17th 70th birthday Van and I hiked up to the top of Wardner and skied off the north side down through the Meadows.  Great Day.  Actually a real suprize and I didn't have my camera but Mikes pictures are great.

Artemat, our cat skiing was cancelled due to lousy snow at Red.

It is set in stone, I am back in Spokane area for another 4 days next week starting Monday and leaving Thursday afternoon. I will be up for skiing all 4 of those days at any of the surrounding MT.

Also, Mission Ridge is going to be great this Thursday, it is dumping right now, they promise 10 in today and additional 2 to 4 every day until Friday. So, if anyone want's to hit it, it is a prime time as we are getting our March dump.

Pete, very sorry about your trip, hopefully you will have a chance to hit it this year as spring is rapidly approaching :-(

Yesterday wasn't bad up at Silver. Snowed an inch an hour the entire day. I think I rode first and last chair as the turns kept getting deeper and deeper.

I broke trail on Wardner traverse at 1pm, and was the only one to ski Meadows the entire day.

2pm and not a single track through the glades gate!

Pretty amazing Mike betcha most Bears have no idea that you can ski untracked powder at a ski area in the afternoon.  Glades looks great.
